Frederick Foss (1850-13 May 1908) was a solicitor and local politician active in the Croydon area. He was the fourth son of Edward Foss (1787-1870) a noted legal writer and his second wife Maria Elizabeth née Hutchins. Frederick married Anne Penny Bartrum (1853-1924) and the couple had thirteen children including Josephine Foss (1887-1983), missionary and welfare worker and Hubert James Foss (1899-1953), music composer.
