New Zealand's 4 million people have been involved in recycling for many decades. Domestic kerbside recycling (and related office recycling) is growing rapidly. Some councils provide householders with separate bins for recyclable material, some providing two or more bins for even more presorting. Plastics in classes 1 and 2 are generally collected, but economic disposal of other classes is rare.
