The Amazon Rainforest is a large rainforest in South America, with the majority of the forest in Brazil and a smaller amount in Peru. Minor portions are in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. Stephen Hart's girlfriend Alison travelled to the Amazon as part of her job researching tropical diseases. She returned two years later. (Episode 1.3)
