The image manipulator chip is a type of technology used by the Brotherhood of Makuta. These were planted in all the screens on Metru Nui at some point by Makuta Blackout, and later used to insert subliminal messages into the feed, brainwashing the Matoran into killing the Turaga of Metru Nui.
