Baybars is the Chief of the Yeniçeri, the Palace Guard. He is a black man with black eyes reminiscent of burnt steel. He wields an obsidian black, seven-pronged sword called "He Who Breaks Spinal Cords." Its reinforced titanium blade is sharp enough to cut iron.
