Joyce Metzinger was a Manticoran citizen and an officer in the Royal Manticoran Navy. In 1903 PD, Metzinger held the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the heavy cruiser HMS Fearless as a communications officer during the ship's trip to the Yeltsin's Star System. She relayed a communique from Protector Benjamin IX to Captain Honor Harrington, and later fought in the Battle of Blackbird. During the Second Battle of Yeltsin's Star, she reported that there was no survivors from the communications department after the area was hit during the battle. She was physically shaken by the loss. (HH2)
