Tam Turtledove was a male Brownie that lived in a "very old home in a nearby town". It was only the children in the house who could see Tam. He was a "mender", who would patch holes in clothing and fix shoes at night. Tam was studied and portrayed by Arthur Spiderwick, and included in his Field Guide to the Invisible World.
