Mort Metzger is the sheriff of Cabot Cove, Maine after Amos Tupper retired. Matzger is a former NYPD officer who moved to Cabot Cove with his wife, in the mistaken belief that they would be living a quieter life. His wife, Adele, is often mentioned but never actually seen.
