Matheson Ayres was born on Grayson in the 19th Century PD. He was married to Jennie Greentree Ayres, making him a brother-in-law of Commander Phineas Greentree. Holding the rank of Captain, her served as commanding officer of the destroyer GNS Ephraim. He was extremely lazy, causing a malaise to affect his crew and ship. Under his command the Ephraim suffered frequent equipment failure, to the point of having an additional engineering officer assigned, and extended vists to the yard.
