Grigori Rasputin was born a peasant in the small village of Pkrovskoye along the Tura River in Siberia. He had two siblings named Maria and Dmitri. His eplipetic sister had drowned in a river, and later his brother Dmitri fell into a pond and Grigori tried to save him. They were both pulled out. Dmitri died pneumonia. Facing these deaths weighed heavily on Grigori.
