The old earth paradigm is the scientific theory that the Earth is much older than 10,000 years. This has been the consensus of modern science since (at least) the 20th century. Creationists are divided on the age of the earth into Old Earth Creationism which accepts the scientific consensus and Young Earth Creationism which rejects it.
