Outage restoration is the ability to use the advanced metering system after repairs are underway to determine if power has been restored to all customers affected by a local outage before any repair crews move onto another area. Utility employees prefer using the AMI system to verify that power has been restored because it obviates having to call customers (often late at night) to verify.
