Gint was the first Ferengi Grand Nagus. Gint was the original author of the first aphorisms that would become the Rules of Acquisition upon which Ferengi society was based. Gint's lifetime or when the Rules Acquisition were first created was never mentioned on-screen. However, in "Little Green Men" , it is stated that it "took [ten thousand years] to establish the Ferengi Alliance", which might imply Gint lived 8000 BC, if he is considered the founder of the Alliance. In his dream, Quark visualized Gint as resembling his brother Rom. (DS9: "Body Parts")
