During the first century of the Corps' existence, the 2nd Marine Division's 5th Marine Regiment provided musicians for the first incarnation of the Marine Corps Band. At the end of the Great Galactic War, the division's 4th Marine Battalion sustained heavy casualties during the Sacking of Coruscant, resulting in the battalion's withdrawal from active service for a time. Along with the rest of the Corps, the division was disbanded as a result of the Ruusan Reformation.
