The 1988 Nintendo Power Awards was the 1st annual Awards published in the May/June 1989 issue (volume 6) of Nintendo Power magazine. It's nominees were listed in volume 5. Even though Super Mario Bros. 2 won the most awards, it lost "Best Game Overall" to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Also, Blaster Master was nominated for 6 of the 8 awards but didn't win anything.
