An anchorpoint was a point in a nebula such as the Marasa Nebula which could be used to chart safe hyperlanes. The Marasans, using navigation computers attached directly to their brains as cyborg implants, were able to find these anchorpoints and use them to chart routes from their home planet of Marasai to the twelve other systems within the Marasa Nebula.
