There are different regions within the Magi-Nation world where Dream Creatures appear, with each essentially representing a different environment, Naroom being a forest, the Cald being a volcanic terrain and Orothe being an underwater region, for instance. Dream Creatures are usually summoned from rings made out of the residue they leave behind when forcefully defeated in battle in their physical forms, although there have been rare occasions where they can be summoned directly from this residue, which is formally called "animite."
