DK-9 was a droid that was tasked with delivering a shipment of spice from Kessel to Gizmel Gam on the planet Ord Mantell. DK-9's ship was damaged and crash-landed on Savrip Island, and the individual Gam sent to retrieve the shipment ordered the droid to destroy it upon learning that it was spice.
