The 1996 The Bud At The Glen was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Watkins Glen International on August 11, 1996. Geoffrey Bodine set the stage for the modern road course race, working the pit cycle backwards, pitting as early as possible in the pit window. Geoffrey Bodine used this to take the lead late at his home track and hold off Terry Labonte by half-a-second for Bodine's final career victory. Labonte expanded his points lead with his finish, holding a 76-point advantadge on Dale Earnhardt (6th).
