Susumu Masumi was the Imperial Matchmaker under Iweko II. When Daigotsu Kanpeki declared war on the Empire in 1200, Masumi was already past his retirement age, but still served. He was among the Spider who remained loyal to the Iweko Dynasty. As the Imperial Matchmaker he chose Susumu Tatsuko as his wife and many wondered why he married a woman from his own clan instead of a more advantageous match.
