The Istartiir Interceptor is mainly used for quick reaction alert duties requiring hyperspace-capable starfighters. Performance-wise, it is similar to the republic A-Wing Mark II, though it trades some shield strength for increased maneuverability and firepower. While having comparable sensor systems, it completely lacks any noteworthy jamming equipment. Unless specific mission criteria warrant otherwise, a patrol of system-based Istartiirs is commonly equipped with ion pulse missiles for interception duty, though carrier complements usually have a more lethal warhead loadout.
