The rematerialization subroutine was a programming segment of the overall program in a transporter system, used to rematerialize the converted matter in the pattern buffer in the same manner as the matter was before it was dematerialized. In 2294, the rematerialization subroutine for the USS Jenolan was disabled to allow Montgomery Scott and Matt Franklin to survive while trapped on a Dyson sphere. By 2369, it was still disabled.
