Protego horribilis is the incantation of a charm that can be used to defend a certain area against attack. It is very complex, as Harry Potter noted. Professor Flitwick performed this charm in May of 1998 to prepare Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the Battle of Hogwarts, among many other enchantments.
