Surface Transportation Corporation of New York was a bus operator in the boroughs of Manhattan and The Bronx in New York City. It was formed in 1924 as a subsidiary by the Third Avenue Railway System (TARS) to operate feeder bus routes to its streetcar lines; as lines were converted from streetcar to bus operation, the franchises were also assigned to STCNY. Originally the company was a subsidiary of the Union Railway Company of New York City, which was in turn owned by TARS and was the actual operator of TARS' Bronx. In 1942, TARS changed its name to "Third Avenue Transit Corporation" and took over control of Surface directly.
