Akihiro Kanou (嘉納 明博, Kanō Akihiro), often referred to as Professor Kanou (嘉納教授, Kanō-kyōju), is a physician at Kanou General Hospital. He is responsible for Kaneki's transformation into an artificial one-eyed ghoul, using him as a prototype for his surgery.
