Located in a city, GW provides an urban experience quite unlike any other university. DC is unique for its political atmosphere, but hosts a realm of other interests as well. As a business district, GW and the surrounding downtown DC area is usually busy during working hours, but many things close quite early and on weekends during the day the city is close to dead. It is definitely not the ever-alive New York City, for example, but plays host to its own unique atmosphere. In 2008, the Princeton Review ranked GW third in the category of "Great College Towns".
