Barradu is a Tosk who was captured by slavers while attempting to outrun his Hunter. At some point after being captured, he was sold to the wealthy eccentric Ionescan Antathon Dilevu, who gave him his current name and set him loose on his private space station (now called Starbase 424), thinking that he might make for an entertaining afternoon. However, Dilevu's advanced age meant that he was unable to hunt the Tosk himself, and thus that job was delegated to his already-overworked servant Jevis Martok, who had better things to do than hunt down a creature that was genetically engineered to evade capture.
