In 1942, a flight of Boeing-17s destroyed the Gray House in Richmond in an attempt to kill President Jake Featherston. They were also used in the last parts of the Battle of Pittsburgh. By 1943, Boeing-17s were sometimes armed with 1.5" antibarrel cannon to penetrate the thinner roof armor of Confederate barrels.
