The 2153 Indianapolis, Indiana tornado was an EF4 tornado that was estimated to have peaked with 185 mph winds whilst on the ground. It caused extensive ground scouring along its path, spending more than 65% of its lifecycle at peak intensity, ravaging the city of Indianapolis, Indiana, causing 34 injuries, and killing 7 people in the process. In addition, it became one of the costliest tornadoes on record, causing $4.67 billion in damages during its path length.
