Golden Week is one of the busiest holiday periods of the year in Japan. Four national holidays fall within seven days and people often take nenkyu on the work days falling in between to make up a full week off work. Hotels, trains and planes become very crowded and ticket prices can increase significantly. The four national holidays are:
