Superstorm Sassy was an extreme hurricane that left devastating effects in Portugal, Spain and Africa. Sassy originated from Winter Storm Goliath moving into the atlantic. Sassy was classified as a tropical depression, and was not expected to strengthen. Oddly enough, it became a tropical storm. the forcast models expected it to die instantly, but one expected it to strengthen. That one was right, and 6 hours later, it was a hurricane, and explosively deepening. Despite its mass effects, Sassy was not retired, and continues to live on as an extratropical cyclone today.
