Daydream Nation is the fifth studio album by American alternative rock band Sonic Youth. It was recorded between July and August 1988 at Greene St. Recording, New York City, and released in October 1988, through Enigma Records. The album is widely considered to be the band's best work, and an influence on the alternative and indie rock genres. It was chosen by the Library of Congress to be preserved in theNational Recording Registry in 2005.
