Donald Wheeler earned a degree in Pre-Federation Tellarite Literature from Gerrold University in 2380. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace) Gerrold University is evidently named for David Gerrold, who created Sherman's Planet in the TOS episode: "The Trouble with Tribbles".
