A blastboat was a small combat-capable starship. It filled the gap between the starfighter, and more heavily-armed capital ships. Blastboats were fast enough to intercept intruders, but strong enough to engage and survive well-armed and armored opponents. Blastboats could operate in both realspace and atmosphere. The most well known and widespread class of blastboat was the GAT Blastboat series manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems. It served as the Galactic Empire's standard gunship for patrol and point missions.
