Bokononism is a somewhat fictional religion which originated in the Kurt Vonnegut book Cat's Cradle. The idea of Bokononism and it's practice is supposed to be the antithesis of the government of the fictional island of San Lorenzo, thus creating a synthesis which creates "law" in the state, wherein everyone practices Bokononism, and yet it is forbidden.
