Orion records were a significant historical resource, with a huge volume of data and a wide variety of different media. But incredibly little of it was reliable, being rife with subjective views, rampant falsification, and lazy scholarship. Orion historians and artists primarily presented their patrons' views, whether that of a family, a planet, or a business. For their side, victories in war and business were exaggerated, as were those of their foes, while defeats were downplayed or left out altogether. Accounts by the defeated were often destroyed to avoid contradiction with those of the victors.
