Clarus was a star system, one of several surrounding systems of Ferenginar. In 2371, the location of the Clarus system was labeled in the star chart Data and Picard were studying in stellar cartography aboard the USS Enterprise-D. (Star Trek Generations, okudagram) When, in 2374, Rom floated the possibility that the Dominion had conquered Ferenginar, Major Kira Nerys countered that it could not have been taken without first conquering systems like Clarus and Irtok.
