The special aired once on RTL2 during the holiday season of 1995, and over five years after Henson's passing. It features the new German voices used since Die Muppets Weihnachtsgeschichte (the 1992 film The Muppet Christmas Carol). Clips from Sesame Street feature re-recorded music tracks (for the most part) and new vocals, different than those made especially for Sesamstrasse.
