The Permanent Senior Undersecretary of the Treasury was the senior bureaucratic official within the Treasury Department of the Solarian League, and the actual person in charge of the League's fiscal policy despite the office's nominal subordination to the Minister of the Treasury. (SI2, HH12) Together with the fellow Permanent Senior Undersecretaries of the Interior, Commerce, Education and Information, and Foreign Affairs, this official formed the Quintet that actually ran the government of the Solarian League.
