Hagbard is the leader of the human Outcasts living on the first level of the Abyss. The Avatar found him in Ultima Underworld I inside the outcast encampment that Bragit had pointed out. Hagbard was somewhat cynical, saying "falsely accused every one of us" when the Avatar claimed innocence to all crimes. Yet he was the most clear-headed of the outcasts of the first level. He was later rescued by Garamon when the volcano erupted.
