The first settlements gave the first half of the XVIII century, when the arrival of the Royal Family of Portugal in Brazil. With the fall of Napoleon and the return of the Braganza Dinasty to Portugal, the House of Thomaz-Rocha decided to remain in the region, once established power and prestige among the locals. The next day, the flag and the national coat of arms, the royal title, the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Finance and the Royal Household, Defence and Immigration were established, and religious freedom in the kingdom was granted.
