Asteroid A103 was an unually large asteroid, about the size of a small moon. In 23 BBY, the CIS built a droid production facility and base there with a shield generator to protect it. The base was damaged in the Battle of Asteroid A103, and was shut down at the end of the clone wars. However, everyone forgot about the base and it stayed there, shut down and nonfunctional, for several decades.
