Josh Grierson-Ryrie was elected to the Senate in May 3148. Following the resignation of Patrick Innes, Grierson-Ryrie stood for the leadership of the Free Democrats. Pundits were shocked when he placed first on the first ballot. He narrowly won on the second. Grierson-Ryrie served for only a few months more in the Senate. He resigned in December 3161. His wife was appointed to his seat.
