The Tharen Incident occurred when the 542nd Imperial Legion was sent to Tharen in order to investigate large energy bursts. These bursts were the result of Yuzhann Vong weapon testing. When the Legion landed, they were confronted by Yuzhann Vong, all of whom were killed by the Legion. The Yuzhann Vong's bodies were burned, and their war machines were tossed into the planet's vast oceans in order to cover up the incident.
