The Azure Ocean was open during the alpha- and beta-testing periods of the game. Users were allowed to play for free during that time. When Three Rings began to sell subscriptions, the Midnight Ocean was opened and Azure became the temporary test server, until it was shut down and replaced by the Ice Ocean. The layout of the ocean was similar but not identical to Midnight's. Both have eight archipelagos with fifty-nine islands.
