Tom Arens (played by Gary Grubbs) was sheriff of Dudley, Arkansas when Agents Mulder and Scully were sent to investigate the disappearance of a Chaco Chicken employee. Sheriff Arens appeared to be helpful and assisted the agents in their investigation, but his true nature was revealed when Scully was kidnapped by Walter Chaco's cannibalistic cult followers: Arens himself was the executioner responsible for beheading victims. As he raised the axe to behead Scully, he was shot dead by Mulder.
