The league will select the sites for both Super Bowl L and Super Bowl LI in early 2013. On October 16, 2012, the NFL announced that Houston's Reliant Stadium is a finalist to host the game. Houston will then compete against the runner-up for the site of Super Bowl L: either Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida or Santa Clara Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the new home of the San Francisco 49ers scheduled to open in 2014.
