Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company (MTM) was founded in 1887, and began producing steam traction engines just west of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA in 1889 and the town of Hopkins, Minnesota was founded and grew because of MTM. In 1893, a "VICTORY" threshing machine and steam engine built by MTM won several medals at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. In 1929, Minneapolis Steel & Machinery (MSM) (Twin City tractors brand), Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co. and Moline Plow Co. (Universal Tractor Co. brand) all merged to form Minneapolis-Moline.
