The village of Guederone has a population of around 3,000 people and is located in the base of the mountains. In the village there is also the castle, built in 2389, where the family Santiago lived before becoming the royal family. Today is still owned by descendants of the Santiago. The most important monument of the village is the Chapel of St. Monica. It is located on a small hill above the village. The crown jewels are stored in the chapel and are constantly guarded. The last time they were used was during the coronation of Carlos III.
