Jamaica Buses, Inc. was one of several privately operated bus companies in New York City. Its origin was the Long Island Electric Railway, established in 1896 as the first operated streetcar in Queens County. The LIERy's lines also extended into Nassau County, but in 1926 bankruptcy caused the abandonment of the Nassau segments, while the Queens routes were continued, with the reorganized company using the name Jamaica Central Railways. By 1933, The City of New York granted a bus franchise service to Jamaica Buses, Inc. Unlike many other privately operated bus companies that are family-owned, Jamaica Buses Inc. was a subsidiary of other bus companies that are widely-held. The president of Jamiaca Buses is Jerome Cooper. Its facility is located on 114-15 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica,
